 I have never bought a fish here that was not healthy, they also have an amazing supply of marine supplies, but I have to say the manager was incredibly rude because I wanted to buy a smaller filter instead of the big one they recommended. The young man working there was more interested in trying to get anyone to go out with him on Friday night than he ever was in helping customers.  The people that work are very rude. Most of them don't know what they are talking about. All the animals there are either in very bad health or on the verge of it. A friend of mine bought a whole set up and a rat from there. When we got him home the rat a cold. He ended up dying, we tried to get our money back from the store. Didnt happen. Do not go to this store! I bought to silver dollars there to put in my 75 and got them home and noticed one of my fish had a cloudy eye. I then procceded to call and explain and they asked me to come down. I then got there and tryied to make an exchange or atleast get another one for half off. Not only did I not get a new fish I was told it was MY fault and only my fault. The manager/owner needs a good a$$ woopin he was disrespectful to my wife and I and made it very clear in his eyes to everyone in the store we were trailer trash and he was gonna quote," slap my little punk mother fer across the rm. I spent 2000.00 at this store in one day purchasing a tank all the supplies etc, not one employee could answer my questions out of the 7 "cute" girls working. I think the owner just wants cute girls there because they have NO knowledge. I have been doing fresh and salt tanks for 30 years, these people know nothing. After spending 2grand in there, they made me wait 2 hours for their "manager" to drive to the store to put the tank in my vehicle! Rediculous to say the least, and they were no help at all during the purchase, and rang it up WRONG in THEIR FAVOR 3 times, lucky for me I'm an accountant and pre calculated the total prior to thier "little cuties" trying to do it..... enough said- THIS STORE SUCKS!! Wow. Anybody who is an educated fish owner would say this store is not up to par with fish standards. Did anybody know that you should allow 3 inches of tank for every inch of a full grown fish? They have giant bat fish and eels all living together in one tank. Just because something can survive, doesn't mean it's a respectable living condition. Besides, the customer service there is unreal. They like to quiz you on raising salt water fish, but they don't know how to raise anything themselves. I've owned a tropical reef aquarium for over 10 years and it is beautiful. i very much enjoy this store. the fish are healthy and well maintained. not to mention the best selection around by far. when keeping tanks, it is important to remember that everyone has their own opinion, and they stick with what they know as best. you may have your own opinion and that doesn't make it wrong, just different. i also enjoy looking at the other animals with my children. they are always handling them and getting them scocialized which is very important. in any store, there is always room for improvement, but they do a wonderful job. keep up the good work girls. I have a 4 year old tank with no ammnonia, nitrates, good pH, new water changes. I only had one loach and one goldfish in the 20 gal tank. I bought 3 cory catfish. They got Ich and gave it to my goldfish that I had had for 6 years. The goldfish died as did 2 of the catfish within the first week. I bought a new quarantine tank for the remaining catfish that was on death's door. Have treated for Ich and now it has the Whirling Disease, thought to be a parasite that attacks the nervous system. I told the store just to get a refund for the 2 $5.00 fish I bought there and they refused. So not only are their fish sick, but the management stinks. Go somewhere else! Madge 21:27:07 6/23/2010 |

Wow this is the best pet store ever. I am a regular customer and I dont care what any one says this store has the nicest people working there. I have never had a problem with them, however if you do have a problem talk to the manager about it and trust me he is one of the nicest guys there and he will resolve it if necessary. I drive out of my way to go to this pet store. I don't have an aquarium, but I go here for other pet needs and I have never had a negative experience. Everyone is always so friendly and ready to help me as soon as I walk in the door and they are very knowledgeable and able to answer the questions I have. This is by far the best fish store I ever went to. I set up 2 of my aquariums and bought every one of my fish from there. At first when there was a hold sign I thought people were holding them but the staff told me they quarantine the fish to see if they have and diseases which most fish stores do not do. The staff members also saved me some dead fish when they told me not to mix cichlids with barbs. They have a few cichlids but they are at a reasonible price. All in all this is a great fish store. i love tropical fish world, it is the best pet store around. all the girls that work there are cute & knowlegable. i can guarentee that there are no feeder goldfish in with tropical fish in any of the tanks in aquatics. they sell feeders but they are kept in tanks in the back, with only other goldfish. as for the lobsters, they are fed a sinking shrimp pellet, NOT A GOLDFISH. the tanks are also kept very clean. all the fish in the tanks are compatable & disease free. everything in the store is reasonably priced & high quality. if you have bad things to say about this business then you are clearly uneducated about fish, & fish products! |

I disliked this store very much, there were dyed fish and they were selling dyed pink, blue and green skirt tetras along side GloFish and claiming they were genetically altered by the same people, GloFish has never done any other fish than ricefish and danios. The bettas were in poor conditions, they seemed fairly biased against the younger fish keepers, they wouldn't answer questions and pretty much snubbed me, even thouh I have been keeping fish for 8 years. The equipment and decorations were horribly overpriced, I do not feel like paying 20 dollars for a half pound of driftwood, and the lady was trying to pass it off as the best deal in any conceivable direction. The tanks were horribly overstocked and they were keeping incompatable fish together in the same tank, they had a blue lobster in nearly every tank and along with that lobster, a couple feeder fish for it, those feeders being goldfish. Goldfish and angels don't mix to well, neither do goldfish and tetras. They kept trying to convince my mom to buy some ich ridden albino kribs instead of the healthy regular colored ones that she had picked out. They had tons of disease, some I couldn't even recognize. The bettas had columnaris, the tetras had ich and fin rot and quite a few of the cichlids had some nasty tumors. All in all, I would not visit this store again unless I absolutely had to. |

The people are EXTREMLY rude when you come and talked to like I was stupid. Many things that I asked to buy they told me that either was not for sale or my tank wasn't ready for- beings that I have salt water for over 10 years I feel like they don't know me to make that judgement call. They almost act like I am asking them to go above and beyound just to do their job. Many times I have seen sign that they put things on hold for people yet they are unwilling to do it for me, and I really don't understand, i wouldn't reccommend this store to anyone that is going to try and have enjoyful or educational expeirence. | This is our favorite all around fish store in Pierce County. We have purchased 2 setups and all of our fish here. This is a full service pet store, but the selection of fish is good. They appear healthy and stress free. I've yet to see a dead fish in a community tank. All of the fish we've purchased (over 30) are healthy and vibrant. They do quarantine all new arrivals, which is a good thing. The selection of fish is not huge, but they are not kept in overcrowded conditions so are happy and healthy. The selection of equipment is good. The staff at the shop are very friendly and willing to help, but very few are knowlegable about fish. The exception is the manager, Shannon, she seems to be an enthusiastic aquarist. Other staff members seem to be quite young, inexperienced, and undertrained in fishkeeping. The exception to the happy, healthy fishes is the selection of Bettas. The store subscribes to the theory that Betta are "puddle" fish and therefore can healthily live in little cups of water. The Bettas are kept in little cups in a cold area of the store pretty ratty unless they are part of a new shipment. This is a good store from which to purchase fish (except Betta), but if you aren't an experienced fishkeeper, make sure to do some of your own research on compatability, tank needs, etc.
