![]() In comparison to waiting and waiting and waiting at the big box pet stores, Pagoda was a pleasant change!! We were help quickly and pleasantly. The owner didn't ask any questions about my tank, but we only purchased a few fish. I found the fish in great shape. My children roamed the store and enjoyed themselves. I found the animals accurantly labels and well taken care of. I found the variety of fish a welcome change to the same old same old of the other stores. We will go back here often! I just started working here a couple weeks ago. Lynn's review is unfair. I have yet to see any mold/mildew. Yes, some of the ceiling tiles are damaged, but it is in the process of being maintained as any other small business is. Mr. Yee can be difficult to understand sometimes with his accent as he is Chinese I believe. He does not "lie straight to your face just to try and make a sale". He does give advice, for instance a customer recently came in and mentioned that their freshwater tank was set up recently, just over a week, and the customer wanted to load the tank with fish, and I witnessed him explain that the customer should only buy a couple fish at a time and wait at least a month between each addition. If he wanted he could have had a $60 sale, instead he ended up with a $15 sale. I have never seen a cockroach and wouldn't be in an environment with a cockroach. The feeder crickets that we sell sometimes get loose. The feeder mice and rats, pet hampsters, gerbils, and guinea pigs etc. cages are all bleached out several times a week to kill bacteria. The store is inspected by city and state inspectors multiple times a year and has never had a violation that I know of. Prior to working here I was a customer for many years and have never had a problem with the quality of service or product I got from Mr. Yee. The only problem I ever had was with a previous employee, who also happened to be named Lynn and who decided she could do better at another store. On several occasions when I was there she would rather stay outside smoking while I had to fend for myself in the store and had to wait at the register while she finished her cigarettes and cell phone calls. The store looks old because it is. The building is one of the old downtown Lockport buildings, and Pagoda's has been occupying it since 1991. If he were really that bad he couldn't have stayed in business that long. The store might be a little old, a little worn, but for the good prices and honest advice it's worth the trip. Feel free to check out pictures of the stock at http://www.pagodapetshop.biz (website in progress so you know the pictures are recent). Nick 19:55:24 11/05/2005 |
The store it's self is a filthy and a very unhealthy enviornment. The ceiling tiles are falling down and full of mold and mildew. The stench in this pet store is almost unbearable. Not to mention the cockroaches crawling around the floor in the basment. The owner Wing Yee is one of the most ignorant people I have ever meet. He has no people skills and no morals, and will lie straight to your face just to try and make a sale. He doesn't care about anyone or anything except his own pocket. In my opinion this getto store should of been shut down by the board of health long time ago. Lynn 8/26/05 17:08:46 8/26/2005 |
this store was recomended to me by a friend and i was not impressed. the shop appeared dirty and not kept up. the stands the tanks were displayed on were very old looking and we not pleasing to look at. some of the tanks were very messy. the downstairs was almost all saltwater, and the coolest thing there was a lionfish as big as my head.
