Vallejo Aquarium

I recently just moved into Fairfield and was thinking about restarting my saltwater tank I checked out a few fish stores locally such as "sea splendor" and "pet club" near Cordelia they had an ok selection but they didn't really catch my eye there coral was minimal and there fish didn't seem too lively. So instead of staying in fairfield I ventured off to Vallejo to see what they had to offer. I checked out the "pet shoppe" on springs to see what there all about instead found a few employees that knew nothing about what I wanted to do so I waited by the front counter and waited for someone with more knowledge in salt water care for fish and while I waited I was watching one of the employees doing a water test for one of there tank. I hate to say this but why would you mix 2 different bottle for 2 different test... At that point I ended up just walking out of the store. So after all that trouble I finally took my cell out and yelped aquariums in Vallejo and soon after I found my self in a much better place. From the outside of the store th bars along the building makes it look like a shady place but then again it's what to expecting in Vallejo on the inside it's a totally different store. I believe I showed up right when things were starting to get busy. There's a lot of customers and only a hand full of employees on staff however even if they were working one of them managed to spot me and welcomed me at the door, now with just that type of response i feel alot more at home than any other place I have been to so far. I was quite impressed with the amount of selections that they had for freshwater and what made me more happy was that I didn't spot a single dead fish in any of the tank. So I think to my self not bad but let's look at the salt water selection. I must admit there were more than enough fish for me to choose from there selection was flawless from yellow tangs to a few regal angel, from standard ocilaris clowns to pearly jawfish. This place was superb just for having this many selections and there coral were beautiful just to look at and there prices were more than fair they were to good to be true. The last couple places I went charged mushroom colonies for atleast 40 bucks but here they were charging 35, now I don't know about you but that's one he'll of a difference in price. Another thing that I like about this place is that no matter whether I was the first or the last costumer in the store the employees always manage to have time to ask if I needed help, or to answer my questions. I first started to talking to a lady that had a little bit broken English but was still understandable I asked her for a little bit information about some of the tank that they had in stock, although she was working with a customer already she was kind enough to walk with me to the back of the store to show me some of there selections, unfortunately she wasn't able to me out much because she was still helping out her previous customer so ended up just browsing. Not even a minute later I was appoached by another employee who was far different from the last one. He approached by asking me "what's going on!!!" and asked me if I needed anything. I must say with communication like that it's more inviting and friendly verses being to serious and trying to get a sale. We ended up chatting and telling me about setting up a tank, he was a very confident speaker and didn't pause with his answers he even showed me some good pointers on how to get my tank up an running in less than 2 week verse waiting a month for it to get started like I usually do. In the end when I was at the checkout line with some salt and water conditioner he rang me up personally and gave me more pointer in mixing and adding salt to my tank. After about 15-20 minutes of chatting with me about setting up my tank he introduced himself as Jerell. He even helped me bring my bucket of salt mix to the car, you don't get this kind of service else where. Now that was one of the best places I have shopped for in a long time. And I must say the just the employees alone will get you coming cause this is going to be my go to place from now on.

I was referred to this fish store by a friend. It was my first time investing into a fish and tank. The employees there where very helpful, answered all my questions, knew what they where talking about, and I love the fact that it didn't seem like they trying to push a bunch of stuff on me. They got me set up with what I needed and nothing more. Store was clean, shelves where stocked, prices where cheap, customer service was outstanding!

5 Stars

I have been in Vallejo since 94 originally from SF and been in fish hobby specifically marine fish only for about 8yrs. I always wanted to try and start a reef tank but never had the knowledge and know how, because Vallejo doesn't have any aquarium store that has a reef set up in their store. Vallejo Aquarium opened up in 2008 and I was actually one of the few first customers they had. I was very pleased, open space, clean, nice selections of fishes and corals. I talked to one of the owners and asked about setting up a reef tank and he helped me and explained thoroughly step by step. They are very knowledgeable in all areas. Prices are very reasonable, good discounts, and most of all good customer service. All I can say is, they are just not owners and employees but love the hobby and actually own their own personal tanks.

I have been in this business for 20+ years in all aspectsa and this is a good store. They have cheap prices and a decent selection of livestock. The drygoods selection could be better but is improving.

truly impress of the quality and variety at this LFS, especially their costumer service. I visited on a Saturday, which happen to be quite busy, yet I was still greeted right away as I walked into their store. All my questions were answered and was even told not to purchase a fish that had just arrived. I picked it up few days later and it is eating and happy. Truly you don't find quality service in fish retail now a day, I will for sure return to stock my 55gallon plant aquarium.

I searched everywhere to find a great deal for metal halides for my 75g reef (online, catalogs, and LFS). I was looking to upgrade from T-5Ho to something with more of a kick. When I ask the worker at Vallejo Aquarium, how much were their 48in 250watt MH was, he told me it was only $500 or so. I was so excited to hear that price versus $1200 LFS or $800 mail order / online, that I had to leave with one no matter what. (Thanks American Express and Vallejo Aquarium)

Finally a store near me with people who love what they do and it shows. My interest is in marine life and I found all fish, invertebrates and corals to be very healthy. Their buying program is an extra incentive. If you live in the area you can dump your catalog habit and buy here because the prices on dry and live goods are on par with the big internet boys. Not to mention, try finding a bucket of salt for thirty-five buckaroos at the local petshmo. I also left with a beautiful one spot fox face. Discovering this shop yesterday made my whole month. You have no idea!

I came by last weekend after hearing about a full aquarium store in vallejo from my buddy who works in vallejo downtown. My first impression was the size of the store compared to all the other local pet shops. I really enjoyed the fact that I was speaking to fish people, not someone who is some other animal expect compared to other shops around that carry everything. Very pleasant visit in deed and will return soon.

You know how I found this place? I wrote a bad review for another aquarium and some recommended me to Vallejo Aquarium. My first impression is how clean the store looked. Unlike the other store in town, dead fish were not floating in all their tanks, the store didn't stench like a decading cemetary, and the people were friendly. The staffs were curteous and attentive. I'm a beginning, and haven't had much luck, so I was asking a lot of questions. Now I can pick my tank where I left off, and correct all the mistakes I was told to do! Thanks guys!

My uncle told me of this store while I was visiting him one day, so we decided to take a fish adventure. My first impression before arriving was that it'll be a little whole in the wall, but I was very wrong. Everything was well lighted and pleasant in every way. Friendly service that greets you hello or hi before you even see them. Prices are insane cheap especially for the corals they are selling. I picked up two corals that day, which are both doing really good. 1st coral some sort of mushroom coral with neon green strips through it with like 15 heads on it for only $25. 2nd coral was a Elgence Coral that size of a medium dish (NO BS) with purple tips for only $50 normally $150 at other stores I've been to. I'll for sure be back.

l learn of this store through a friend. My friend told me it was a good place to shop for fishes and supplies. l have to agree!!!
the store is clean and the price is very cheap compare to other stores that l use to go to!! The staff there is really friendly and when they don't know the answer they try to find out the answer on the spot unlike some other stores that feed you a bunch of crap when they don't know. The only advise l offer to those who read this is try to go in the early afternoon. The later hours is when they get to busy. 1st time l went was around 2pm it was slow they had time to answer my question and help me with my fish. 2nd and 3rd time l went around 5 to 6 for both times. They were busy. Even thou they were busy they still said hi to me, and said they will get to me when they are free. check out the store you will not be disappoint

This is a very clean store. All the tanks are clear and the fish the I recently bought were in exceptional condition. I am new to this and the employees were very helpful when I was deciding what kind of setup I wanted.
