I've been visiting a lot of fish store and this one is the best. It has a lot of choice for fresh water fish. The fishes look healthy. The price is competitive. The store is very clean. Number one in the south Bay.

I'm "non-white" and have always been treated well at Brian's for the past few years. Uh, you do know that one of the workers there is black, right?

Anyways, I've had great success with getting nearly all of my stuff at Brian's. Fish are almost always in great condition and I just got some plants that look great as well. When it's busy it does take a while to get help, though. I usually go during low peak hours anyways. It's only a mile from my home, which makes it even better!!

Being a non white customer, you will be treated differently...They should have a sign where they say only whites only..I am taking my business eleswhere

With all the good reviews, I was wondering if it was true or not..Usually I dont agree with a lot of people if it is a postive review..But the store has a good selection of freshwater fish..

I might take the 50 mile drive one way, to buy a particular fish that I dont see elsewhere in my area..Wow..I will go so far for an exceptional fish..

For the South Bay area, you have a diamond of a store with friendly knowledgable people who are honest and care. I started as a beginner, knowing very little about aquariums and I met Brian and Eric. Brian has always been honest with me even if it meant not selling me something that visit. But because of Brian's knowledge and honesty, it's been 11 years and I still have that same 35 gallon set up along with 2 new 50s.

The customer service is excellant and each person that has serviced me has been knowledgable. The weekends can be busy and I have waited.

Brian's prices are moderate to low compared to others. What has impressed me is if you need or want something special, Brian will order it for you, call you when it arrives, and has loaded heavy rock into my car.

All tanks are marked, priced, clean and the fish healthy. Dry goods are displayed in the back of the store and on the weekends, when busy, are hard to get to.

This fish store is great! The second best out of San Jose. The staff is well knowledgable especially Brian the biologist. This guy could answer anything for you and not lead you to buy the most expensive thing he really cares about his fish he'll ask you everything about your tank before he sells you the fish. His fish are very healthy. The tanks are somewhat covered with salt creep, dust but who cares about that right? The main point is that his fish are extremely healthy and the saltwater display tank at the back of the store is an example of a real reef very impressive. The prices are very reasonable there too. I highly recommend this store for any fish keeper.

I visited the store and was impressed by it's organization and cleanliness. The store is older and could probably need a little facelift but it's fine just the way it is. The fish were in good health and the help was excited about his job. Brian was very helpful and a pleasure to talk to. Alot of selection for all. Saltwater stock was mid-range but they were expecting their fish shipment in soon. Bay Area stores usually receive new fish on Wednesdays or Thursdays. A decent selection of product. A nice store with plenty of parking.

I was really surprised that this store was as bad as it was based on the reviews I had read. I'd like to think I just caught it on a bad day, but there were too many sick / dead fish to really support that theory. There was a large South American cichlid with the worst case of hole in head disease I have seen outside of textbooks. It was on display out in front, in a lit tank with another fish, apparently for sale. I think the poor thing should really be euthanized; it's in horrific shape. There was a Jack Dempsey sharing a tank with a large, dead, un-IDed fish. There were decomposing fish being eaten by their tank mates. The saltwater fish looked incredibly stressed and washed out, and the corals were not looking too healthy either. The business card touts the owner as a biologist--really? What gives with the fish then?

If you wanted to chance buying fish here, they did have a good selection of cichlids, including wild oscars. Customer service was pretty good. But the state of the fish made me sad. Based on all the other positive reviews, I'm hoping this isn't SOP for this store, and I just caught them during a bad time or something.

I have been coming to Brian's for over 6 years... I have not found another store I trust more. Brian and his staff are very knowledgable, and have helped me out a TON!! I would not think of going anywhere else!! They are TOPS!

They have a -ton- of stuff there, including freshwater, saltwater, and some koi and aquatic plants. When I have a question about fish, I go to Brian's Fish World. I've never had a question he didn't know the answer to. The people are friendly and helpful. Their stock is great, too. I've been going there for almost a year now and I seldom see a dead or sick-looking fish; a rarity with fish stores.

Good store. Helpful people working there. Fish seem to be in pretty good shape. A little pricey and can get very busy.
