Half a fish is way too much. :(

I feel sorry for every single fish (in groups up to 20) caged in a less than 10 gallon tank.
This makes me so sad.

Isn´t this reason enough to avoid this store ?

It is - in my whole opinion.

While their prices on things like Amquel+ and test kits are very good, I would never, ever purchase a fish from this store.

The aquatic department is not only small, but it is always a mess (hoses everywhere) and the tanks always look bad. Seems as if almost every tank has a dead fish in it.

I live just a short distance from Pet Club and have used it regularly for the past 8 years or so. Once upon a time they had a VERY well run fish department when a young lady (I think her name was Melissa?) was in charge. Anyway, she departed for whatever reason and since then I have witnessed a steady decline over the past few years which has reached the point of conditions as described by the other reviewers. I used to buy fish here frequently but that stopped at least two years ago as tank conditions reached deplorable status...The last fish I bought here was a female betta who brought with her a NASTY bacterial disease which completely wiped out my female betta breeding stock.

The bottom line is that this IS a locally managed store so if EVERYONE who reads this would take the time to find the store manager (Mike?) and let him know how they are feeling about the way the fish department is being maintained, then things could change for the better.

Wow what store was the previous reviewer going to - certainly not this one. Variety of fresh and salt water fish is rather poor. There were a few corals but the lighting system they are kept under is very inadequate. Fish come on Thursdays making it best to go either friday or the weekend before they start showing diseases. The feeder tank was littered with skeletons and the tanks were pretty poor with a few dead fish intertwined with plants and decorations. Considering there were just 1 other customer it didn't seem like he was to busy to pull out the floaters. Get a clue a few floaters are to many considering children will be entering the store and would soon be looking at the " a few floaters " Special order means looking at a list and ordering from some place. Doesn't anyone go pick there fish anymore? Please if anyone knows where there is a store in this area that does please let me know. Prices are great almost 1/2 less than most aquarium stores on supplies - this is true but it means supporting the fish department please count me out. This store isn't a threat to any real aquarium store. It makes stores like Aquatic Variations and Dolphin look great compared to this place . I agree that it would make a nice dog park or a cat rescue shelter.

Although a obvious corporate store PetClub Mountain View still offers variety of fresh and salt water fish as well as corals. Depending on the day however. Fish come on Thursdays making it best to go either friday or the weekend. When I went they seemed to have cleaned up the tanks a bit and had a great selection of African Cichlids as well as corals in thier new coral tank. Plants were plentiful on the bottom row tanks and although a few floaters here and there it wasn't as horrible as reffered too. When asking for help i was explained that you could "special order" fish fresh/marine which come every thursday just ask for the manager. Prices are great almost 1/2 less than most aquarium stores on suppies and fish/corals were average. Also the selection of frozen/live foods were great they had live blackworms (that arent all dead), brine shrimp, and a whole freezer full of different brands of frozen.
I realize stores like this are a threat to smaller fish stores and love to get slandered so im going to support small and big.

Well let's just put it this way - they sell dog food and decorations cheap. The girl who I met in the dept. was knowledgable but she is only one person. The tanks looked really murky and bad. Just a few dead fish but you had to look deep into the tanks to see the fish thru all the algae. Don't support this store - the best thing anyone could do for this store is hire away the few that care and run a bulldozer for a few hours and make it a nice dog park.

Look, I admit I've been to your store twice now, but that was only to get two bottles of hard-to-find slime coat. Your fish are sooooo poorly cared for that you had more floaters than live ones. Seriously, it was gross!
And as far as customer service goes, all we ask for is a little courtesy from your employees.
If you want to see sick and dead fish, and then be treated like a complete waste of time, by all means support this store.
If, HOWEVER, you want to see healthy, happy fish (and PEOPLE), go elsewhere. ANYWHERE!

Why are you still in business -that's the question I ask them when I am there. They suck - the fish are sick the staff are kids with no training other than grabnet pull fish. remove deadones everyonce in a while -repeat.

Overview: A really, really bad fish store. They don’t take care of their fish, they have dyed fish (painted glass skirts), lots of sick and diseased fish, and lots of very old dead fish in the tanks. It smells like dead fish. The fish department is very unorganized--hoses all over the floor, ladders blocking aisles, etc. Many of the “display” tanks are so coated in algae you can’t actually see into them. Their marine section is very sad--they had the sickest pufferfish I have ever seen.

Customer service: Not really investigated. No one asked to help me, but I didn’t ask for help, either.

Selection: On fish, not great. They have a very small marine section, with mostly clown fish. Their freshwater section has all the usual suspects--mollies, goldfish, swordtails, with a few S. American cichlids (all of which are labeled “VERY AGGRESSIVE”) and a few African cichlids. I saw no loaches at all (which is a good thing, considering) and very few varieties of catfish. They have the aforementioned painted glass skirts, which were heavily infected with ich and were still apparently for sale. The selection on equipment is much better, but it would be with a pretty heavy conscience that I would buy here and support their fishkeeping.

Plants: None seen, other than plastic.

Price: Good prices on everything, from fish to tanks to equipment.

Equipment: Lots of stock, ranging from tanks and stands to filters to deco. Their filter selection is pretty basic, though.

Humane treatment of fish / ethics: See above. They score very very poorly here. I am amazed I didn’t see the little tiny betta bowls, but I did see just about everything else.

Avoid this store at all costs. They have nothing for the serious aquarist, beginners will end up with sick fish, and they just shouldn’t be supported. There are many better stores around--go to one of those instead.
