 I'll give credit where credit is due... they have quantity yes... but quality... a total 180. Every time I go there, there's always a guy going up and down isles picking up dead fish left and right. The fish are way overstock in small tanks in many cases and some look like they haven't eaten. Some fish that hobby people know shouldn't be put together, their employees put them together. A jardini and a silver? Sheesh... the silver was beat up the last time I came there. You'd think that because they do gravel-less that their fish wouldn't be sick but that's far from the truth. I know that stocking tons of fish makes things cheaper so therefore its ok to let them get sick as long as they make some return on them is cruel. Even petsmart/petco who know nothing about fish isn't this cruel. If you want odd ball fish come here but if you want to a chance that they wont die... well... good luck or buy meds a head to treat them. Jorge 20:17:19 1/27/2010 |
Great selection of fish and accessories. Owner and staff always ready to answer questions, with answers not necessarily in their best interest (should I buy this fish? - No.) Prices are competitive. Normal degree of sick fish, especially considering high turnover of livestock (always a good percentage of recent arrivals). No problem with returns. John 14:00:32 10/19/2009 |

 I haven't found a better store in So Cal. Although their lack of warranty on their livestock is concerning I've never had a problem with any of the fish from Tong's. I always watch the fish for 15 minutes or so before buying, to make sure the one I'm buying and all of it's tank mates look healthy. I'm also very happy with their staff who are very nice and knowledgeable. As for their prices, they seem reasonable and quite often they carry unique breeds only available through mail order.  I purchased a stingray there. The next monring I callled them, the ray was not looking too good, and was sturggling to eat due to something wrong in its mouth. When I was in the store, the ray was laying in the sand (this is normal) but when I got it home had a chance to look under it and it had a big red mark on its mouth. It could not eat well. They told me that nothing they could do. The ray died two days later. I will never buy another fish there again. I highly suggest seaside in Huntington Beach. Way better service! |

 This store is in my oponion horrable. The only thing good about it is all the Tanks, and product they have. The fish their are VERY unhealthy. i have boughten fish from them twice and each time they broke out with ICH or ICK. The tanks always have dead fish floating in them and like the review below me the people their arnt friendly at all and i wouldnt trust their advice. they are also very rude if you have a return and NO refunds. lots of sw/fw fish and corals. this place has a lot of variety! hit and miss on cust serv. prices are a bit on the high side for items but they also have some lower priced tems. big selection of tanks and dry goods. worth the trip. anonymous 14:39:36 3/09/2008 |
If you're looking for salt water or a big tank, check out this store. They have a large area just for tanks. Their tanks are well filtered but some fish didn't seem that healthy. The prices of products are a little high and the fish aren't cheap either. They do have some unique things from time to time. The workers are kind of unfriendly and I wouldn't trust their advice.
