![]() A very nice selection of fishes..I remember back in the day, when Connies was in Oakland, CA about 10 years ago..They had a very huge selection of tropical fish and the place was huge... Now Connies is getting back to its glory like it was in Oakland before..The selection of fishes are very good..Prices are competitive and not a rip off... The owner/manager was Hank in Oakland and in Castro Valley Hank is still there.. |
![]() ALL FISH INFESTED!!!!! HIRRIBLE!!! DONT GO!!!!! fish88 22:33:14 1/03/2008 |
![]() great store, you need to get to know the workers there and you will fit in just fine, just BS and be a cool person and they will treat you like family. plus they ordered a fish i could never find anywhere else and they had it that same week. aquatics 19:32:11 10/21/2007 |
![]() If you are looking to set up a tank for the first time (or in my case second time with 20 years in between), you couldn't go to a better place for assistance. Hank spent numerous visits with me going over everything I would need and answering all of my questions. Aquarium Concepts answered my questions as well, but it was Hank that gave me the confidence I needed to begin my saltwater journey again. You really can't go by these reviews to decide where to purchase your fish-- things change from day-to-day. The first few times I went to Aquarium Concepts at their new location in Dublin the fish looked great, but I went in yesterday and one whole section of tanks on the left (about 20 tanks) are infested with ich-- almost every fish is either laying on its side, breathing hard, or are covered with spots. I don't see how they are going to save them, and there are so many! Sal 12:29:30 3/30/2007 |
![]() connies is off tha hook...i go there daily.they have tha coolest fish an tha most knowledge about them...tha staff is friendly an is always lookin out 4 ur pets... CONNIE'SisBALLIN'510 23:20:23 3/21/2007 |
![]() No picking individual feeders! But p.m@rtz lets you pick! Not a great selection of plecs or goldfish. Worth a visit. Staff will say hello but not overly friendly. |
![]() 80 percent of fish are sick. Prices are not competitive and rediculous, they say 40 percent off salt water fish, but they are marking it down from a really high price. You save nothing and end up with a sick fish. No way. never shopping there again. Connie's is LAME 03:48:30 2/09/2007 |
![]() I went in and bought a Red Goatfish today for an amazing 12 dollars. Who can beat that? I get excited when I go to Connie's every single time. They always have a good deal on something. I was more excited when the fish were half off, but eh. I dont know how they could stay in buisness with prices like that. Hank is always very helpful, nice guy. You know how some places make you feel stupid for asking questions, like they are totally ellitist. However, I never get that at Connie's. GREAT STORE. Saltwater Junkie 15:19:32 2/03/2007 |
![]() I used to ONLY shop at Connie back when the salt water fish were 50% off. Now they are only 30% which is still cool, but thats pretty much what every other store charges. So now I shop other places too. Hank is pretty cool. That asshole "Jerome" doesn't know what he's talking about. Prices on accessories are a bit high, but still okay and I do worry about the Heniochus' overall health. I'm worried about them by it everytime I go in there. Connies is a pretty cool place to shop, as long as you know what your doing, that is. Like I said about the Prices, they used to be incredible, now they are pretty much in with all the other stores. But I still shop there because I trust Hank AND they always have cool fish. Anonymous 14:16:11 2/03/2007 |
![]() You won't find fish or coral priced lower in the Bay. Their bag sales on the weekend offer even lower prices on fish and are definitely the way to go - you'll want to rescue the fish before they touch the miserable water conditions in the store. I've had good luck with the corals I've bought at the store and from the bag sale but wouldn't recommend anything from their fish tanks... Bay 17:12:57 1/15/2007 |
![]() I go there every time I need crickets or mealworms. I also bought the gecko there he is off-the hook!!! He is so good he is the only pet I need. there is also more than enough fish too choose from, I mean com'on "Connies(tropical Fish)"no dought I will shop ther for a long time. ![]() A few good staff. Marine fish are more than fairly priced and most are healthy. A few "bad apples." Nothing shocking to say the least. Not much enthusiam spent answering Questions, but I guess you should do your own research before you buy. (Although others views and expirences are essential/useful to the fine world of Aquaria.) Selection usually not too large but surficeable, due to lots of loyal customers. I Have yet to attend Connie's during a bag lot sale. However, I am eager to check it out and will most likely buy a new friend. All the fish I own from there have all survived. Connie's, by my standards earns a 4 fish score for great prices and decent overall friendlyness. Molly M. 01:48:07 9/29/2006 |
![]() The staff needs a kick in the ass. Too much time talking among themselves. The fish prices expecially African cichlids are Outrageous! Supplies like food and filtration are astronomically high! And they carry those damn hybrid flowerhorns. Waste of tank space. |
![]() I agree about the atmosphere of the store but I was in there recently and they have some awesome new pine stands. You should check it out!!!!! As for lil' Hank he is very knowledgeable and helpful. I would give this one a chance Sarah 22:38:09 8/25/2005 |
![]() Any manger named lil Hank (this isn't the Dukes of Hazzard) says it all. Connies is a dump! Aquarium Concepts is the best aquarium store in the bay area and I have been everyone at one time or another. Jerome 16:37:00 7/20/2005 |
![]() Went into the store to buy a whole new 20-30 gallon setup. In the 15-20 minutes I spent in the store. Not one person asked me if I needed help or paid attention to the customers. Kids were too busy gossiping and picking out dead fish with their hands. Won't be going back there. |
![]() Recently bought a couple turtles from Connies, and I was very pleased with the knowledge the staff and the health of the turtles. I feel their accessories were limited for turtles, but they are more of a fish shop. I'd go here for nay fish needs, or if I ever wanted more turtles. Jason 10:21:04 5/10/2005 |
![]() Here's a serious, unbiased opinion; This is, easily, the absolute, best place to buy fish for your aquarium. My wife and I drive one hundred miles to get there as often as possible. They always have great, healthy and LOWEST-price fish. I must say that I am reluctant to inform people of this place. I'll probably be sorry when too many people are picking out the best fish ahead of us. If you prefer to just SEE fish, go to Aquarium Concepts where you'll find a big store with BIG prices. Happy fishing!! Alan 22:11:54 3/30/2005 |
![]() Connie's is over priced on most everything and most of the fish are sick looking or just not doing well. Aquarium Concepts on foothill in hayward is much better. Matt 09:10:55 10/02/2004 |
![]() This place is a dump. It is tiny with a poor selection. Most of the stock is sickly, dying, or already dead. Fin rot, swollen eyes, etc. The plants are just as bad. Don't waste your time. Julie 13:23:18 9/16/2004 |
![]() i go in there at least 3 times a week, ive always had a good experience, good prices, and i am treated by knowledgeable and friendly staff. lil Hank (the boss) is always willing to help me out and go the extra mile matt 01:32:47 7/15/2004 |
