wow ata has changed so much they have down size and i guess the old owner Jay is not there anymore. Steve is the man running the show there. There prices are still great and fish seems healthy. but the store is still messy. they need more selection on fish, they just have tons of the same fish like yellow tangs blue tangs and ect... i seen their new monster frag tank that they are setting up. this huge but shallow. i ask them how is business and they said its hella slow but they understand that everyone is strap for cash. it was nice of them to recommend me to check out craigslist for used tanks since lots of people is getting out of the hobby. i think their main focus now is to keep what ever customer they have left, hey yellow tangs at $15 bucks who can beat that. i asked where is jay now they said that he is pursuing his new career as a pro poker player. well best wishes to them glad that they are getting there act together. Don't buy water from them or fish, it may be cheap, but they carry many bacterias. When you buy fresh clean saltwater, your thinking, ok iam getting a brand new saltwater. The owner and the staffs are very rude, poor customer service, poor knowledge on reef keeping and dishonest. I will never go back to the store and highly recommend my friends and family not to go there. If you don't mind and decided to go there, don't bring your kids there because the owner and the staffs look and behave like street gangster. Be very cautious on giving them deposit. The first and last time i was there, some asshole worker hands me a net and tells me to catch the fish myself b/c it wasn't worth his time catching some damsels for me. I am the "real" vince a who posted a nice message about purchasing this tank from the store. Someone uses a similar name and posted some statement about them flipping me off, etc. Not true. I paid for my tank about $1400 in full when I ordered it. It was delivered to my home on time as agreed! The tank is fine. I have not purchased any live stock from this place so I have no opinion. However, when I do inquire, his prices are very fair. Also - you should always QT all of your fish! Normally I would have some concern after reading all of these complaints, but the fact that someone played with my favorable review leads me to think that some of these other complaints may also be non-sense.

I found Jay to be knowledgable about both the fish and equipment he sells. In fact, on more than one occasion, Jay discouraged me from buying fish that he did not think would go well in my tank. I also purchased a large acrlyic tank there. They delivered as promised on time to my home. I paid for the tank in full and had it custom make. No issues. I would buy again.

The fish in the tanks had so much ich i though the ich was going to jump out of the tank and go onto customers . The customer service was bad because no one didnt want to help at all nor did they show any signs of trying to help. Im glad i didnt invest any money in this place it would've been a dissappointment purchase . I will never c comeback to this place ever. To add on to my last comment, I have a question for you ATA.....why don't you change your ways? You can tell many people are unhappy with your store, right? After all, there's not many negative comments about other stores. I'd say yours takes the cake in the negative feedback category. So, why not turn over a new leaf and be honest and up-front about your prices? Why not offer up an explanation why the fish do not look healthy? I bet you'd gain more business turning over a new leaf and admitting your prior mistakes than by continuing down this path of bad business, unfriendly staff, below average livestock, and dissatisfied customers. I would have a lot more respect for a place that could turn itself around after admitting they were wrong or made some mistakes. It's not too late, ATA. Make the right choice and do some housecleaning....internal and external! Maybe a WYSIWYG (what you see is what you get) type of website. This would force you to only sell healthy, non-ich infected specimens. You certainly wouldn't want to put pictures of fish with tiny white spots all over them on your website, would you? It's not too late. Many people make New Year's resolutions and this is your chance. This place is absolutely terrible. The owners do not realize that their customers (usually only one-time customers) are more knowledgeable than they are. They tried to sell me a pale, brown mushroom coral for $30 dollars and stated that it was a ricordia. I've been in this hobby for quite some time now and can tell the difference between ordinary mushrooms and ricordia. Furthermore, the staff on hand was not friendly at all. The fish, like everyone else has already stated, looked terrible. If you want to buy a fish that looks like it's been flushed down the toilet, swam down the sewer system, and then ended back into the ocean after visiting an ich farm, then ATA fish is the place for you! I wouldn't support this place if their livestock was free. Unfortunately, judging a place based on their website probably generates some business for them. Fortunately, people are smart and never return after visiting their store. Any reasonable person would think to themselves, "Gosh, after all this bad publicity and unhappy customers, maybe I should change my ways," but they continue down a path of deception and poor quality. Why be known as the place that lures you in there with deceptive prices? The owner said it himself and made a comparison of his store to cell phone sites that offer free cell phones....as if that was a GOOD thing!! Those cell phone sites are a scam too! The store is okay. The prices are good and the service is good too. I bought a tank setup from them and have not had any problems. the problem I had with a UV light, they took care of right away. Like the prevous poster said, "bait and switch." They have good deals on their websites but they never have them in stock.
