this place is crazy. Tucson must have some really nice aquariums inside all those mud-hut homes i see around town...and if so, no doubt they get all those fish and supplies from this place. i have seen fish in this shop that i haven't seen in years even in shops in L.A or Japan...or public aquariums for that matter. i can't figure out who's buying these rare beauties, but they must be doing some great business. i think the place must be under new management, the last time i came here, it was dingy and dark and the fish were sub-par at best. i've been here 4 or 5 times when i'm in tucson since and it's fantastic to say the least. the staff is super friendly, and there's a guy there who speaks about aquatic biology like he's been in some super school for fish knowledge for 50 years and he's gotta be all of about 25 or 30...yes, there are glammyer places in Phoenix, but when it comes down to the roots of the hobby, Desert Pet Center is the best in Arizona that I've found...if they would just change that awful name! also if you're into the whole Amano thing you could do alot worse than to shop here...and the betta selection is nuts.
